@Cornerstone is an ambitious project designed to transform Bargoed town centre by creating a vibrant community and enterprise hub. Our multifunctional event space will offer dynamic opportunities for our clients, budding entrepreneurs, members of the public, and community groups, alongside a signposting service that connects people with vital local resources.
The Support Hub Café, provides a safe, welcoming environment where anyone in need can enjoy a hot meal, companionship, or access referrals to specialist support services . The café’s kitchen will also be used to prepare hot meals for rough sleepers and guests of our Night Stop project, during the winter.
Another primary function for @cornerstone is to empower our service users with practical skills and qualifications. We will offer hands-on training in cooking nutritious meals on a budget, working as barista , and catering qualifications in partnership with local providers, supporting pathways into business or employment in the food and hospitality sector. To foster entrepreneurship, people receiving long-term benefits will have the chance to manage the café in a supportive, risk-free trial setting, paving the way for them to pursue their own catering venture in future.
To promote sustainability, the café will run part-time as a social enterprise, generating income to secure the long-term future of the project. We welcome volunteers to help out in the café, to both keep costs down, and provide upskilling opportunities.
Finally, our event space will be available for public or group hire, in addition to hosting pop-up events—providing local entrepreneurs a platform to showcase, sell, or launch new ideas that benefit Bargoed’s community. Our plans are flexible and responsive, and we remain open to new opportunities as the project evolves.
